The Fall Fever
Eastern Meadowlark
Double-crested Cormorant
Female Red-winged Blackbird
Roosting Double-crested Cormorants
Northern Mockingbird
Male Monarch
partly cloudy/0800-0930/50s/15-20 mph winds
These were Sunday morning's shots. Saturday was a very dark day, a complete washout.
I considered myself fortunate to see the Eastern Meadowlark, which s getting to be more rare. It is a ground nester and with Dow and Monsanto's targeting, it could well become a bird of the past. According to the older area residents, they had once been very prevalent birds in the welcoming fields.
