Merry Christmas to all! To day is going to be in the 50s. Tomorrow made it to 43, and it appears that we are in a slight warming trend. This is welcome news to me, as it will allow some ice to melt.

Ice Storm 2013
In the south, we still manage to get a little weather. Isn't this one of the most beautiful things that you've ever seen?
It reminds me of the old days at home, when I was wandering the woods, just looking up, and seeing nature's art at my disposal. It makes me grateful for all the things that I can see

There was a light skin of ice on the water, and to show you how light Ring-billed Gulls are, they were standing upon the ice. The morning was quiet with a small amount of foot traffic. Today will be 60ish, but that is soon to be short lived. Enjoy the warmer weather while possible, as old man winter all soon be upon us again.
A man stopped me this morning, thrilled that he saw a Bald Eagle on Saturday, grateful for the beauty of our national symbol. I am grateful for everything that nature has to offer. Please do your best to protect it. If you see litter somewhere, please have it in your hearts to pick it up. You might be saving a bird's life. Thanks, caring friends!

There is water in the lake again instead of ice. This should permit the ducks to come a little closer to shore. Having had a very full weekend, I was unable to get to the lake until today, which I believe was a productive shoot. Rumor has it that the weather will be improving here, while the east coast battles dramatic snow storms. I don't miss those days.

The Beauty of Early Morn Begets Another Wondrous Day
Canada Geese
Northern Mockingbird
American Robin
Northern Cardinal
Mourning Dove
Sheaf of Ornamental Grass
19-25 degrees/partly cloudy/0800-0930/light and variable winds
Even though it was technically colder yesterday, there was very little wind in comparison, so it was much more comfortable. There is still very little water showing, but I understand that the days will soon be a little warmer. Perhaps the ducks will come closer.
