Light and Variable Wind/partly cloudy/15 degrees with 5 degree Wind Chill/0815-0900

Due to the fact that there was no wind today, made for a much better photo shoot.  Once again, there are patches of ice and clear water, but with this new Arctic blast, the lake will freeze again fully.  My timing this morning allowed for some good feeding shots, and I lasted a lot longer on the lake than I did yesterday.  There was a dusting of snow overnight, but you'd never know it.

18 degrees with 0 wind chill/partly cloudy/20 mph wind/0815-0835

This was one of the coldest days this winter, if not the coldest.  I got what I felt that I could get and moved on.  Perhaps tomorrow will be kinder.

Another fruitful day that I am happy with.  As luck would have it, there are more days coming where I will be able to get out in the earlier mornings, making it a good life.  Hold onto what you value, including your own personal treasures.

41-45 degrees/partly cloudy/15 mph winds/0835-0945

The birds seem to think that today is a perfect spring day, but I don't think it is here for the long haul.  Too many things indicate otherwise.  They will be going back into hiding soon enough.

Great Blue Heron's Fishing Expedition

                                                                      Fruitless!

                                                                     "I'll Betcha…"

                                                                      "Score!"

42-44 degrees/0830-0930/partly cloudy/20-25 mph wind gusts/unknown wind chill

It was cold as sin, but I could not give in to the pain in my fingers.  Being a quitter is not in my vocabulary.  This is something that I owe to myself as a photographer, to learn patience, as this heron cannot pull his meals out of a hat.  So I waited, got colder, and my fingers got numb.  Just as  was idly considering giving up, it happened.  And it was in a flash!

                                                       Buffleheads Taking Flight

                                                                   Canada Geese

Black-crowned Night Heron Juvenile Amid Shrubbery

28-32 degrees/unknown wind chill/15 mph winds/partly cloudy/0840-0945 hrs.

Quiet and cold, yet peaceful and refreshing to be out today.  The youngster Black-crowned Night-Heron made its appearance with several good poses.  The Bewick's Wren also permitted itself to be seen, and the Carolina Chickadee enjoyed the attention, too.
