                                          One form of the many kinds of milkweed plants.  It feeds monarch butterflies, as well as is a host plant for  them, and many other insects obtain nourishment, as well.  Birds will use it for nesting material.  If you want more butterflies in your yard, plant milkweed, and the powers that be will put great things in your yard.
